Fun de Chichunne 8a is a 40-metre sport route through the most horizontal part of Grande Grotta on Kalymnos. After falling on the final move during an onsight attempt, I returned one year later and sent the route on my first try of the trip – effectively a second go separated by twelve months.

A 40-metre 8a sport climb through the spectacular roof of Grande Grotta on Kalymnos, Greece. Fun de Chichunne follows extremely overhanging terrain through the cave, with long sections of climbing on tufas and stalactites where the wall is close to horizontal. It is one of the classic steep climbing routes on the island and took around 45 minutes to complete.

After falling on the very last move during an onsight attempt on the final day of the trip, I returned to Kalymnos one year later. Without watching anyone climb the route in between, I sent Fun de Chichunne on my first attempt back — essentially a second go, separated by an entire year.
